About our Aircon servicing & repairs service

  • Jobs start from R450
  • Leaks, noise and no cooling fixed
  • Regassing by registered practitioner
  • Business service contracts

We service and repair split-system air conditioners in homes, shops and offices across Cape Town, the Winelands, Helderberg and the West Coast. We work on all common brands, whether or not we installed the unit.

Most aircon faults are simple and avoidable: clogged filters, a blocked drain line, a dirty coil or a unit that has not been cleaned in years. A proper service catches these early. When something has already failed, we find the fault first and quote before we repair.

If you are shopping for a new unit rather than fixing one, see aircon installation for sizing and prices.

What we do

filter clean air
  • Servicing and deep cleaning

We clean the filters, indoor coil, blower wheel, drain tray and outdoor unit, then test cooling and airflow. This removes the dust and mould that cause smells and weak cooling.

  • Fault finding

We test the unit systematically: power, sensors, fans, the compressor and gas pressure. You get a plain explanation of the fault and a price before any repair.

  • Regassing

Regassing is done only by a registered refrigeration and gas practitioner, and only after the leak is found. Topping up a leaking system without fixing the leak wastes your money.

  • Leaking or not cooling

Blocked drains, frozen coils, low gas and failed fans are the usual causes. See the fault list below.

  • Noisy units

Rattles, buzzing, squealing and banging each point to something different, from a loose panel to a failing fan motor or compressor.

  • Service contracts for businesses

Scheduled services for shops, offices and restaurants, so units are cleaned and checked before the hot months. Ask us for a quote based on the number of units.

Aircon problems we fix

Find the closest match. If your symptom is not here, call us.

blocked drain drain clear
  • Leaking water inside

Water dripping from the indoor unit usually means the drain line is blocked with dust and slime, or the unit is not sitting level. A frozen coil that melts can overflow the tray too. Unblocking the drain is usually a short job. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 for a price.

  • Not cooling

Dirty filters, a dirty coil, a faulty fan, a failed sensor or low gas can all cause warm air. First check that the remote is set to cool, the temperature is below room temperature and the outdoor unit is running. If so, switch the unit off and call us.

  • Noisy

A rattle is often a loose panel or screw. Squealing points to a fan motor bearing. Buzzing or grinding from the outdoor unit can mean a failing fan or compressor. Switch the unit off if the noise is loud or new, to avoid further damage.

  • Bad smell

A musty or sour smell is mould and bacteria on the coil and in the drain tray. Cleaning the coil, blower and tray removes it. Cleaning the filter each month helps keep it away.

  • Error codes and flashing lights

Codes differ by brand and model, so the manual or our technician reads them. Common causes include a sensor fault, a communication fault between indoor and outdoor units, a fan fault or a protection trip from a power surge. Tell us the brand and the code when you call.

How often should an aircon be serviced?

winter summer

Once a year for a home unit used mainly in summer, and twice a year for units used all year, in dusty places, near the coast or in kitchens and restaurants. Book before the hot months, not during them, because technicians fill up in the first heatwave.

In between services, you can do one job yourself: take the filters out each month, wash them under a tap, let them dry and put them back. Dirty filters cut cooling and push up your electricity bill. Never run the unit without them.

Near the sea, salt corrodes the outdoor unit. Servicing includes rinsing the coil and checking brackets and connections for rust, which matters on the West Coast and in Hermanus. Units also fail when power surges hit the electronics, which is why a surge protector at the DB board is worth having.

What it costs

No surprises: you get the price before we book, and before any work starts.

Jobs start from R450

The price depends on how many units you have, how dirty they are and whether a repair, parts or gas are needed. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 for a price, and tell us the brand and the fault. A photo of the unit helps.

Send a photo of the dish, the fault or the wall on WhatsApp and we’ll come back with a price, usually within working hours.

Aircon servicing & repairs questions

Straight answers to what people ask us most. Anything else, WhatsApp a photo and ask.

How often should an aircon be serviced?

Once a year for a home unit used mostly in summer, and twice a year for units used all year, in dusty areas, near the coast or in kitchens. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 for a service price. Between services, wash the filters monthly. Book before the hot months, because technicians are busiest during the first heatwave.

Why is my aircon leaking water?

The drain line is usually blocked with dust and slime, so the water backs up and drips from the indoor unit. A frozen coil that melts or a unit that is not level can do the same. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 for a price to unblock the drain line. If the unit keeps freezing up, there may be a gas or airflow problem that needs fault finding.

Why isn't my aircon cooling?

Common causes are dirty filters, a dirty coil, a failed fan or sensor, or low gas from a leak. Check the unit is set to cool and the outdoor unit is running. If it still blows warm air, switch it off and call us. Jobs start from R450, and we price any repair after fault finding.

Do you regas aircons?

Yes, through a registered refrigeration and gas practitioner. The price depends on the unit size and the leak repair, so call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 for a price. We find and repair the leak first, because gas does not get used up. If the system leaks, topping it up only lasts until it leaks out again. We tell you what we find before we quote.

Why does my aircon smell?

A musty smell means mould and bacteria on the indoor coil, blower wheel or drain tray. Dirty filters make it worse. A full service cleans all of these and removes the smell. Washing the filters monthly slows it coming back, and so does running the fan for a few minutes after cooling.

Can you service an aircon you did not install?

Yes. We service and repair split units of most common brands, whether we installed them or not. Tell us the brand, model and fault when you call or WhatsApp us on 081 232 2249. For old units where parts are hard to find, we say so before you spend money on repairs.

Need Aircon servicing & repairs? Call or WhatsApp.
