Langebaan is known for wind. The summer southerly and south-easterly blow hard across the lagoon, and a dish on a thin arm acts like a sail. We fit a heavier bracket, add a brace on exposed roofs, and tighten every fixing against the vibration that works bolts loose over a season.
Salt is the slower problem. It attacks standard brackets, F-connectors and the braid of cheap cable, and a rusted connector can kill the signal while the dish still looks fine. Sand blown into a pole mount can also stop the arm from locking. We use galvanised or stainless hardware, compression connectors and UV-stable RG6, and we seal the entry point where the cable goes through the wall.
Many Langebaan homes are used a few weeks a year. A system left idle for months can lose its signal, and nobody notices until the family arrives. If your house is rented out, ask us about a service visit before the season starts. For guesthouses and blocks with several units, communal DSTV is usually cheaper than a dish on every roof.
