Who we are and how to reach us

Digitech Projects (formerly Digitech Satellites) is a small installation business in the Western Cape. We install and service DSTV, CCTV, gate motors, aircon and electrical work.

This policy explains how we handle your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). The owner, as Information Officer, is responsible for it.

To contact us, call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249, or email info@digitechprojects.co.za.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to quote and do your job. This is usually your name, phone number, email address (if you give it), the area or address where the work is, the service you need, and any message you send us.

If we have Google Analytics switched on, we also collect general site usage data, such as which pages people visit and which buttons they tap. It tells us how the site is used and which contact buttons work best.

We do not collect card numbers, bank details or other payment information through this website.

How we collect it

Most details come from our quote form. When you send the form, your details are passed to us by WhatsApp or email, so we can reply.

We also collect information when you call us or send us a WhatsApp message. We may note details about the job, such as the site layout or the equipment on site, so we can do the work properly.

Why we use it

We use your information to quote, book and carry out your job. We also use it to follow up after the job and to send you invoices.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing messages unless you agree to them. You can withdraw that agreement at any time.

WhatsApp

Many of our conversations happen on WhatsApp. WhatsApp is owned by Meta. Messages you send us on WhatsApp are also handled under WhatsApp's privacy policy, which you should read if you want the detail.

Please do not send us sensitive details such as ID numbers or banking information on WhatsApp or by email.

Cookies and analytics

Our website is a simple static site. It does not use advertising cookies.

If we switch on Google Analytics 4, it may set cookies to measure visits and to see which buttons people use, such as the call and WhatsApp buttons. You can block these cookies in your browser, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Who we share it with

We share your details only with the technicians and suppliers who need them to do your job. We do not share them with anyone else for their own marketing.

We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with a court or a government authority.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it for the job and any warranty that applies.

We keep invoices and tax records for up to 5 years, as tax law requires. After that we delete the information or remove details that identify you, unless the law says we must keep it longer.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Our phones, email and WhatsApp accounts are protected with passwords, and only people who need your details can see them.

No system is completely safe. If your information is compromised, we will tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

Your rights under POPIA

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you. You can ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent you gave us. We will respond as soon as reasonably possible.

To use these rights, email or call us using the details above.

If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you can complain to the Information Regulator at https://inforegulator.org.za/.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of the page. The latest version is always the one on this website.
