Re-securing a pole-mounted dish before winter
A dish on a thin pole is first to move when a front arrives. We tighten or replace the pole clamps, add a brace to the roof and realign with a meter so the signal holds through the next storm.
Digitech Projects installs and repairs DSTV from Saldanha to Malmesbury, with dishes fitted for Atlantic wind and salt.
40 suburbs and estates in and around West Coast
Digitech Projects is based on the West Coast and installs DSTV across it. Our two biggest West Coast pages are Langebaan and Vredenburg, and each has its own page. Below you will find the smaller towns, each with its own section: Saldanha, St Helena Bay, Paternoster, Velddrif, Yzerfontein, Darling, Malmesbury, Hopefield and Jacobsbaai.
Coastal towns eat standard brackets and connectors, and the wind finds every loose fixing. We fit galvanised or stainless hardware, weatherproof connectors and UV-stable cable. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249.
Every DSTV job we do, done the way West Coast homes need it.
On the coast, from Yzerfontein to Velddrif, the wind is the main enemy of a dish. Summer southeasters and winter fronts push a dish out of line, and salt corrodes the bracket, the connectors and the cable braid. Inland, in Darling, Malmesbury and Hopefield, salt matters less, but farm homes have long cable runs and dishes on outbuildings.
Fishing and harbour work shape the towns. Saldanha, St Helena Bay and Velddrif have bars, guesthouses and staff accommodation that can use a shared DSTV system. Holiday homes in Paternoster, Jacobsbaai and Yzerfontein often stand empty in winter.
The calls we get most often here, and what the fix usually involves.

A dish that has spent years in coastal air often has a chalky surface, a rusted fixing and an LNB with failed seals. We replace the dish, the Smart LNB and the connectors, and we leave the old cable in place only if it tests clean.
Coastal towns are a drive apart, so we try to do the work in one trip: install the dish, mount the TV and check the gate or camera that has been playing up. Mention everything when you call.
The service person arrived 100% on time for our appointment and the DSTV problem was fixed within minutes. Thanks for your great service.
Every moment of dealing with this team, from the 1st phone call to them leaving my premises after a clean, successful and problem-free installation was professional, friendly and a winner. I had the incorrect problem diagnosis but they arrived with all the tools and replacements for and instance.
Thank you for the excellent service received from Digitech today in fixing my DSTV signal. Your technician, Warren, was friendly and efficient and of great help. I will strongly recommend Digitech to anyone in need of DSTV installation.
We cover these West Coast towns and the suburbs, estates and farms around them. If your place is not listed, call and ask.
Saldanha is a working port town on a deep bay, and its homes range from older streets in Diazville and White City to the bay views of Blouwaterbaai and Saldanha Heights. Hoogland is a hilltop estate above the bay and Parkersdorp borders the centre. Many properties are rentals or holiday lets, so we often fit a shared system or an Extraview link rather than one decoder per room.
We also move and realign dishes in Middelpos and the older suburbs when a tree or an extension blocks the line to the satellite. Wind comes off the bay, so every dish gets a brace.
St Helena Bay is a fishing town with a harbour at Sandy Point and fish factories around the bay. We work in Laingville, Steenberg's Cove, Sandy Point and Britannia Bay, and in Stompneusbaai along the shore.
Shelley Point is a secured golf estate with many holiday homes, so we do a lot of work for owners who are away, from a new decoder to a full realignment. Salt spray is heavy on the water side. We use stainless fixings there, and we replace any cable that has gone stiff or cracked.
Paternoster is a small fishing village known for crayfish and oysters, a short drive from Vredenburg. Many houses here are weekend and holiday homes, and a number of guesthouses take guests through the season, so a working signal matters when the house is full.
We install dishes in the village and out towards Tietiesbaai and the Cape Columbine reserve. Wind is strong and constant on this stretch. Salt is heavy, so we use stainless bracket hardware and compression F-connectors and seal where the cable enters the wall.
Velddrif sits at the mouth of the Berg River and is made up of Laaiplek, Port Owen and Dwarskersbos. Laaiplek has the working harbour and the fishing industry. Port Owen is a marina development with waterways and homes that have boats at the door.
River mouth air is damp as well as salty, which is hard on connectors, so we seal every joint. In a marina, neighbouring buildings can block the line to the satellite, so we check it with a meter before we fix the dish. Camera systems for Port Owen homes are available on request.
Yzerfontein is a fishing village and holiday town on the Atlantic, known for Sixteen Mile Beach. Many houses are weekend homes that sit empty through the week and through winter, and that is when a loose dish or a corroded connector goes unnoticed.
We fit and repair dishes in the village and on the farms inland. Houses near the sea get a heavier bracket and a brace against the wind. Ask us about a check before the holidays, so the TV works when the family arrives.
Darling is a farming and tourist town inland from Yzerfontein. It is far enough from the sea that salt is less of a problem, but the wind still blows, and you can see the turbines of the Darling wind farm on the road in.
Most of our work here is on older town houses and on farms around the town. Farm jobs often mean a dish on an outbuilding and a long cable run back to the house, so we use proper RG6, support the cable along its route and protect it where it crosses a yard.
Malmesbury is the largest town in the Swartland and the administrative centre of the municipality. It is inland, so summers are hot and salt is not the main issue. Wind and sun are. We work in Wesbank and the older streets, and in the villages around it such as Abbotsdale, Chatsworth, Kalbaskraal and Riverlands.
Aircon is a common request alongside DSTV in the summer heat. UV-stable cable matters here, because cheap cable cracks in the sun within a few seasons.
Hopefield is a small farming town inland from Langebaan. Most jobs are on farmhouses, outbuildings and homes at the edge of town, where the dish usually has a clear view of the sky but the wind has little to slow it.
That makes bracing the main concern. We fit a heavy bracket, tighten every fixing and use a meter to align the dish. A farmhouse with two TVs usually wants an Extraview link, and a farm shop or lodge can use a shared system.
Jacobsbaai is a small village between Vredenburg and Saldanha, with a rocky shoreline cut into several bays and many white and lime-washed holiday houses. Owners often want the dish out of sight from the street, so we choose the roof position with care and hide the cable.
Most homes here are used part of the year, so we test every channel before we leave. Salt air is heavy at Jacobsbaai, so we use stainless hardware and sealed connectors on every job.

Salt corrodes ordinary brackets, F-connectors and cable, and the wind loosens fixings and twists the dish. We use galvanised or stainless brackets, weatherproof compression connectors and UV-stable RG6, and we brace dishes on exposed roofs. That is why coastal installs are done differently from inland ones.
Yes. Book a visit before the holidays and we will check the dish alignment, the bracket, the connectors and the decoder, and test every channel. If a part has corroded, we replace it on the day. We recommend this for any house that has stood empty for a few months.
We cover the towns around West Coast on the same routes.
Call or WhatsApp with your area and the problem, or send a photo of the dish. You get a clear price before we start, and a technician who arrives with the parts.
