About our CCTV installation service
- Watch live on your phone
- 4, 8 and 16 camera systems
- UPS backup for load shedding
- Home, business and farm
We install CCTV for houses, complexes, shops, offices, workshops and farms across Cape Town, the Winelands, the Overberg and the West Coast. A standard home system is four or eight cameras, a recorder with a hard drive, and the app set up on your phone before we leave.
Many CCTV problems come from the install, not the cameras: a lens pointing into the afternoon sun, a joint that lets water in, a recorder that dies every time the power trips. We position each camera for a usable picture, seal outdoor joints, and power the system so it survives load shedding.
If you already have cameras that have stopped working, we repair and upgrade existing systems too. If you also need a gate motor or a dedicated power point for the recorder, we can do that on the same visit.
What we install and fix
Pick what you need, or tell us the problem and we will suggest a system on the site visit.
-
Home packages (4, 8 and 16 cameras)
Cameras covering the front door, driveway, garage and the sides of the house, plus a recorder and hard drive. Most homes start at four cameras and add more later.
-
Business, farm and estate systems
Larger systems with longer cable runs, extra storage and cameras for yards, stock rooms, sheds and gates. Farms often use fibre or wireless links between buildings.
-
IP and HD analogue systems
Two ways to build the same job. We explain the difference below in plain terms and recommend one for your property.
-
Remote viewing on your phone
Live view, playback and alerts from the manufacturer's app. We set it up on your phone and the phones of your family or staff.
-
Night vision and colour cameras
Infrared cameras give a black-and-white picture in the dark. Colour-at-night cameras use a built-in light so you can see the colour of a car or a jersey.
-
Wireless, 4G and solar cameras
For places where running cable is not practical: a farm gate, a holiday house with no internet, or a shed far from the main building.
-
CCTV repairs and upgrades
Dead cameras, a recorder that will not boot, a full hard drive or an old system you want on your phone. Repairs start from R450.
-
Moving existing cameras
Relocating cameras and the recorder when you renovate, move house or change the layout of a business.
-
Battery and UPS backup
A UPS keeps the recorder, cameras and router running when the power goes off. See the load shedding section below.
-
Video intercoms
Answer the gate or front door from your phone. Often fitted together with a gate motor.
-
Alarm systems
Ask us about alarms when you call. We will tell you what we can fit for your property.
IP or HD analogue: which one do you need?
Both give a clear picture and both can be watched on your phone. The difference is in the cabling and the equipment.
| HD analogue | IP (network) | |
|---|---|---|
| How it connects | Coax cable from each camera to the recorder, with a separate power lead | One network cable (Cat6) per camera that carries power and picture |
| Picture quality | Good 1080p to 4K images on current HD systems | Good 1080p to 4K and higher, with more detail control |
| Best for | Homes and small shops, or replacing an old analogue system on the same cables | New builds, larger properties, long runs and sites that want to expand |
| Cable length | Up to roughly 300m on coax in good conditions | Up to 100m per cable, further with a switch or fibre |
Not sure which suits you? Send us a photo of your property on WhatsApp and we will tell you.
Where cameras should go
A camera covers the area in front of it, not the whole property. The usual spots are the front door, the driveway or gate, the garage, the back door and any side passage a person could walk down unseen.
We mount cameras about 2.5 to 3 metres up, out of easy reach but low enough to read a face. We avoid pointing a lens at the setting sun, and we check the picture on a monitor before we drill the final holes. Fixed lenses give a wide view; varifocal lenses let us zoom in on a gate or number plate.
Watching your cameras on your phone

Remote viewing needs the recorder connected to your router by cable and an internet line with enough upload speed for the picture. Most fibre lines are fine. On a slow line we set the phone stream to a lower quality so it still loads, while the recorder keeps the full quality footage on its drive.
For farms and holiday houses without a line, a 4G router or a 4G camera does the same job. We set up the app, add the users you want, and show you how to play back an event and save a clip.
CCTV and load shedding
A recorder with no backup stops recording the moment the power drops, and some need a manual restart afterwards. That is when break-ins happen. Fit a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and the cameras, recorder and router keep going through a normal load shedding slot.
How long it lasts depends on the number of cameras and the battery size. A small four-camera system on a UPS typically runs for a few hours. Bigger sites can use a larger battery or an inverter, and our electrical team can fit a dedicated circuit for the system. The price of a UPS depends on the battery size and how long you want the system to keep running.
Brands, storage and coastal conditions

Brands we commonly install include Hikvision, Dahua, HiLook and Provision. They are widely stocked in South Africa, which means spares and replacement cameras are easy to find years later.
Storage depends on the number of cameras, the resolution and whether the recorder runs all day or only when it sees movement. As a guide, a 2TB drive on four HD cameras recording on motion often holds a few weeks of footage. Recording around the clock shortens that, and we can fit a larger drive.
On the coast, salt air corrodes cheap fittings, so we use weatherproof junction boxes and sealed connectors on outdoor runs. On farms, dust, rodents and long cable runs are the usual trouble, and we use UV-stable cable and protect it in conduit where mice or rats can reach it.

How a CCTV install works
Tell us about the property
Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 with a few photos, or ask for a site visit. We ask what you want to see and what worries you.
Camera plan and quote
We walk the property, agree camera positions with you and give a written quote for the whole job.
Cabling and mounting
We run and seal the cables, mount the cameras and fit the recorder somewhere dry and out of sight.
Phone and backup setup
We connect the recorder to your router, set up the app on your phone and fit the UPS if you chose one.
Walk-through
We show you live view, playback and clip export, and leave you with your passwords.
What it costs
No surprises: you get the price before we book, and before any work starts.
The price depends on the number of cameras, HD or IP, the cable distance, the wall type and extras such as a bigger hard drive or a UPS. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 for a price. A few photos of the property help.
Send a photo of the dish, the fault or the wall on WhatsApp and we’ll come back with a price, usually within working hours.
Site visit for larger systems
Eight cameras or more, a farm or a business? We will come and look at the layout first, so the quote matches the job. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 to arrange it.
CCTV installation questions
Straight answers to what people ask us most. Anything else, WhatsApp a photo and ask.
How much does CCTV cost?
CCTV jobs start from R450. The price of a full system depends on the number of cameras, whether you choose HD or IP, the cable distance and the wall type, plus extras such as a bigger hard drive or a UPS. Call or WhatsApp 081 232 2249 for an exact price. A few photos of the property help us work it out.
Can I watch my cameras on my phone?
Yes. Every system we install can be viewed live and played back on your phone with the manufacturer's app. You need the recorder connected to your router and a working internet line. On properties without a line, a 4G router does the same job. We set up the app and show you how to use it.
Does CCTV record during load shedding?
Only if it has backup power. Without it, the recorder stops when the power goes off. We fit a UPS that keeps the cameras, recorder and router running through a normal load shedding slot. The price depends on the battery size. Your internet router also needs power for phone viewing, so we usually power that from the same UPS.
How long is the footage kept?
It depends on the hard drive size, camera count and recording mode. As a guide, a 2TB drive on four HD cameras recording on motion often holds a few weeks of footage. Recording non-stop shortens that. When the drive is full the recorder overwrites the oldest footage, and we can fit a bigger drive if you need longer.
Do you service existing CCTV systems?
Yes. We repair and upgrade existing systems, including ones we did not install. Repairs start from R450. Common jobs are dead cameras, recorders that will not start, full drives, forgotten passwords and getting an old system onto your phone. If the system is beyond repair, we will say so and quote a replacement.
Do you install alarm systems?
Ask us about alarms when you call or WhatsApp us on 081 232 2249. We will tell you what we can fit for your property. Many customers pair cameras with a gate motor and an intercom so they can see and let in visitors from their phone.
